Each of the 8 days combines route, history and rest. This is the complete program, step by step.

  1. DAY 1

Arrival in Cusco — The Imperial City

Welcome to Peru | Arrival in Cusco: on arrival at Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport, the Peru America Tours team welcomes you and transfers you to your hotel in the historic center, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire at 3,399 m. Day | Gentle acclimatization: the morning is reserved for acclimatization: rest, sip coca tea and let your body adjust. In the afternoon, if you feel ready, stroll the cobblestone streets around the Plaza de Armas, admire the Cathedral at dusk and wander the bohemian San Blas quarter. Your guide provides a full briefing for the days ahead. Overnight in Cusco.

Afternoon | Guided city tour: we begin at the Cathedral, a treasury of Cusco-school paintings including the famous "Last Supper" with roasted guinea pig, and the Qorikancha (Temple of the Sun), the empire's most sacred sanctuary beneath the Santo Domingo convent. We continue uphill to Sacsayhuamán, the monumental ceremonial fortress; Q'enqo, a carved-rock shrine; Puka Pukara, the "red fortress"; and Tambomachay, the sacred "Bath of the Inca." Midday | Buffet lunch in Urubamba: we enjoy a hearty buffet lunch of regional Andean dishes.
