The route, step by step

Each of the 4 days combines route, history and rest. This is the complete program, step by step.

1. DAY 1

   Puerto Maldonado – Monkey Island

   We arrive in Puerto Maldonado, the biodiversity capital of Peru. After pickup at the airport, our journey begins with a tour of the city. We continue to Capitanía, a small river port, where we board a motorized boat to cross the Madre de Dios River. As we advance, we immerse ourselves in the natural environment of the jungle while observing capybaras, caimans, turtles, herons, cormorants and other species. We arrive at Ecoamazonia Lodge and enjoy an exquisite welcome drink; we settle into our bungalows and have lunch. In the afternoon, accompanied by our specialized guide, we visit Monkey Island, just 5 minutes from the lodge, home to spider monkeys, capuchins, squirrel monkeys and howler monkeys, as well as coatis, sloths and a great diversity of birds. We end the visit enjoying the sunset — the most impressive moment of any day in the jungle — and return to the lodge for dinner.

2. DAY 2

   The Lost Oxbow Lake

   After breakfast, we begin an adventure through the virgin jungle with our local guide until we reach the Lost Oxbow Lake, a refuge and feeding ecosystem for an enormous diversity of animals: otters, caimans, turtles, tapirs, birds of all colors, the majestic jaguar and a variety of fish. This area, part of the Ecoamazonia reserve, remains intact, with large swamps and natural springs. We climb an extraordinary viewpoint from where we observe the magical jungle, followed by a pleasant canoe ride around the lake. We return to the lodge for lunch and, in the afternoon, we offer an optional visit to the botanical gardens; if you prefer to relax, you can enjoy the Amazonian pool and dinner.

3. DAY 3

   Gamitana River and macaw clay lick

   After breakfast, we begin another excursion through the magical jungle: we sail on the Madre de Dios River and then make our way to the Gamitana River, which springs from the heart of the virgin jungle. Its impressive curves form long channels that we navigate by boat, observing animals up close such as turtles, caimans, birds and a great variety of insects. We can also fish and take a quick dip in the river. Along the way we visit the macaw clay lick, where these colorful birds gather at dawn to eat the clay. We return to the lodge and end the day with a pleasant dinner.

4. DAY 4

   Puerto Maldonado – Departure

   Breakfast and transfer to Puerto Maldonado airport for your departure flight. You carry with you the memory of the most biodiverse jungle on the planet. End of our services.
